The North West England MRC Fellowship Scheme in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics is run as a collaboration between the Universities of Liverpool and Manchester with funding and support from the Medical Research Council and four industry partners, Astra Zeneca, GSK, ICON and the Medicines Evaluation Unit.

Twelve Fellows have now been recruited to the scheme, with each carrying out their own clinical research project. Each Fellow is working with industry partners, NHS Trusts, charities and research centres as well as taking part in public engagement and patient involvement activities beyond the initial scheme collaboration. The Research Without Walls approach to this scheme has created an extensive national and international network developing a critical mass of clinical pharmacology expertise in the North West of England that holds student centred training at its heart.
